TNPSC Group 4 Photo and Signature Size 2026 (Notification 11/2026)

Photo and signature requirements for TNPSC Group 4 2026: sizes, the 6 October 2026 photo date rule, why your old Group 4 photo won't qualify, and the cm vs pixel confusion.

· 4 min read

If you are applying for TNPSC Group 4 under Notification 11/2026 (dated 6 October 2026), you need two image files. The specifications are in Annexure I of the official notice, pages 24–25:

PhotographSignature
Pixels130 × 170 px230 × 75 px
File size20–50 KB10–20 KB
Format and namePhotograph.jpgSignature.jpg

The photo is a colour studio portrait on a white background, with your name and photo date in the bottom 55 px. The signature is in blue or black ink on white paper.

Most candidates already know these numbers. Where Group 4 applications actually go wrong is below.

Your previous Group 4 photo won't qualify

The photo must be taken on or after 6 October 2026. The photo you used for the 2024 or 2025 Group 4, or one sitting in your OTR profile, is older than that. This is the most common reason a Group 4 photo is technically the right size but still against the rules.

Get a new studio photo for this notification and print the real photography date on it. See adding name and date to a TNPSC photo.

Group II / IIA (07/2026) uses the same sizes, with photos taken on or after 11 August 2026. A photo taken for Group 4 in October therefore also works for Group 2. The reverse is not always true.

3.5 × 4.5 cm or 130 × 170 px?

The notice gives the photo as 3.5 × 4.5 cm and the signature as 6.0 × 2.0 cm, alongside the pixel values. They don't convert cleanly. At the 200 DPI the notice mentions for scanning, 3.5 × 4.5 cm is about 276 × 354 px.

The upload form checks pixels and kilobytes, so follow 130 × 170 px. Online converters that start from centimetres, or "exam photo" presets such as 300 × 400 px, give the wrong file for Group 4.

The OTR profile photo is a separate upload

Your One Time Registration profile has its own photo with a different age rule (taken within three months). Updating it does not replace the photo in your Group 4 application, and the reverse is also true. See OTR photo rules and updates.

Closing date

Check the closing date on the official notification list, not on coaching or news sites. For 11/2026, the closing date listed on the portal already differs from the one printed in the original notice.

When your photo is ready, the TNPSC photo compressor has a Group IV · 11/2026 preset that produces both files at these exact sizes.
